Laura-Jane + James {Cooling Castle Barn}

2 Comments Cooling Castle Barn, Kent, Lifestyle, Lollypop, Summer, Wedding

Laura-Jane and James were an absolute delight to photograph and generally be in their company. They’re such lovely people and made us feel very welcome. We had a great day and hope we get to work with them in the future. Laura’s answers are really good, so I will let her tell you about their big day.

A few words from Laura…

How did James propose? James had been to Bluewater to buy my birthday present. Unbeknown to me, he had also bought an engagement ring -having asked my dad for my hand in marriage earlier on in the day! James wasn’t sure when to pop the question and was debating whether to ask me on the morning of my birthday or leave it until later on the day. However, on returning home from Bluewater he couldn’t contain himself. He went upstairs to put my presents away and called me up. When I got to the top of the stairs he was down on one knee with the ring in his hand!

What is your most memorable moment of the day? For me, there are so many but exchanging our vows has to be the most important memory from the day.    James says that his favourite part of the day was walking into the reception room when the toast master announced us before dinner. It was very special to know we were sharring the day with all our loved ones!

Which is your favourite image and why? Far too many to choose from! There are some lovely ones of us together in the field and under the sign post. I also love some of the photos taken during the speeches, where James and I are genuinely in hysterics! The photos of some of the children from my class outside the venue are also very special as it was quite a unique moment and Laura and Jody were the only people to capture those photos.
What was your favourite purchase for your big day? It’s too hard to choose! I loved my dress, my shoes, my veil, my hairband! James would probably say the Rolls Royce Phantom that his mum and dad hired for him. I think our guests would say Etienne, he kept everybody entertained during the reception drinks and wedding breakfast and people are still talking about him now.

What was your first dance song? The Calling Wherever You Will Go – a song that was out when we started dating and every time James heard it, it  reminded him of me when I was away at university.

Where did you go on honeymoon? Kenya – three nights on an amazing safari and then a week to relax at the beach!

What advice would you give to brides reading this who are planning their wedding? Just go with the flow on the day. If anything doesn’t go to plan, it will be too late to change things and your guests probably won’t notice anyway! I think I managed to stay (relatively) calm on the morning by telling myself ‘what will be will be’! James says , take as much in as you can as the day goes so quickly!

    It was a pleasure to be part of Laura-Jane & James’ special day.

    One of the highlights for me was seeing Laura-Jane’s face when she saw her schoolchildren who had surprised her by coming to wish her good luck.

    It was also a pleasure to work with Laura & Jody from Lollypop photography again.

    Their relaxed and cheerful manner always gets the best out of their clients as can be seen from their photos.

    Another great day for everyone
